Rosa Maria (Rosy) Sanchez, M.S., LMHC, NBCT
Rosa Maria (Rosy) Sanchez, M.S., LMHC, NBCT joined Pinecrest Counseling in 2016. She has been a practicing clinician for over 39 years. She received her Bachelor’s in Science Degree in Psychology from Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in 1976 and a Master’s in Science in Mental Health Counseling from Florida International University in 1979. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Board Certified Teacher for M-DCPS, she brings experience to our practice in working with individuals who are: experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD and an array of mood disorders. Throughout her professional journey, she has worked extensively with a broad population ranging from adolescents to elderly. In her tenure with FIU and M-DCPS, Ms. Sanchez has worked with students presenting with learning and emotional/behavioral disabilities (EBD) placed within special education programs or in need of specialized services. Grief/bereavement counseling is another area of special interest for her with a focus on Oncology Patients and their families.
Family and Marital counseling will be addressed and treated in the course therapy as deemed clinically necessary for each patient. Ms. Sanchez’ focus of treatment lies in the area of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strength-based therapy, Insight-focused therapy, Solution-Focused therapy, Diversity and Multicultural Counseling as well as Trauma-Crisis Intervention. She strongly believes in fostering a safe, respectful, supportive and empowering environment that will always promote an optimal Patient/ therapist relationship.
